Today, the State University of New York at New Paltz covers 216 acres and includes the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Science & Engineering, the School of Fine & Performing Arts, the School of Education, and the Graduate School.

With over 100 undergraduate majors to choose from, New Paltz students earn degrees which open doors to lifelong career opportunities. Students can earn a BA, BS, or BFA from our College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Education, School of Fine and Performing Arts, or School of Science and Engineering. We also offer several interdisciplinary minor programs, college-wide honors and departmental honors programs, and pre-professional preparation programs. Our students have visited over 120 countries through our extensive study abroad program options.

The Graduate School offers more than 50 exceptional programs in business, education, computer science, engineering, fine arts, music therapy, and the liberal arts for students who have the equivalent of a 4-year baccalaureate degree. The MBA program is AACSB accredited, making it top 5% in the world for MBA programs, and allows for an accelerated one-year option for completion.

English as a Second Language Program and Services

Does your institution have an Intensive English Program?
Yes! SUNY New Paltz has an accredited, high quality English language program for both degree and non-degree students that was established on campus over 40 years ago. Our ESL program, one of the few in the SUNY system, has been a member of the prestigious Consortium of College and University Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) since 1990. We offer short-term intensive English, as well as English for Academic Purposes through our on-campus Pathway Program. The Pathway Program allows students to be conditionally admitted to undergraduate and graduate programs, matriculating to full-time academic course work upon completion of the highest level of the English program. Support for student success courses are also provided to allows students to have a seamless transition to their degree program.

Can your institution issue an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 Student Status to a student who has been admitted only to the Intensive English Program?
Yes. We issue an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 Student Status for both academic and language training.

Does your institution provide courses of English as a Second Language to admitted students?
Yes. Conditionally admitted students are required to demonstrate English proficiency through the completion of our ESL program or by testing out. Students who are not required to take ESL courses may be permitted to take a few ESL courses upon consultation with the ESL coordinator.

Additional ESL features?
Our program offers outstanding cultural activities and field trips, a well-connected conversation partner program with American students, our Community Ambassador Program to connect students with local American families in the community, one-on-one mentoring and advising, and exceptional special topics courses.

International Student Housing Options

All international undergraduate, ESL, exchange, and visiting students are eligible for on-campus housing. Graduate students, however, live off-campus, and our staff can direct them to resources to find housing options.

Financial Aid

SUNY New Paltz is proud to offer the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship for international undergraduate students, awarding a 50% tuition scholarship renewable for all 4 years of study. For more information, click here.

Financial aid is available to graduate students in the form of Graduate/Teaching Assistantships. There is also an MBA scholarship, and an MS Electrical Engineering Fellowship. Admitted MFA students receive an automatic in-state tuition scholarship.

All New Paltz students, including international students, are eligible to apply for campus wide merit scholarships after matriculation at New Paltz, or part-time on-campus student jobs.

Student Activities and Campus Life

The New Paltz Student Association and Residence Hall Student Association have over 200 clubs and organizations in which students can participate, as well as over 800 leadership opportunities for students. We have an art museum and theatre in the center of campus. Our New Paltz Athletics offers NCAA athletics, club sports, outdoor pursuits, as well as an Athletic and Wellness Center with a fitness room, pool, basketball courts, and several other sports facilities that are available to all registered students.
